A hand full of tricks
It doesn’t take much to add an exciting finishing touch onto your presentation. All you need is a hand full of tricks, a trick for every finger. Its not magic!
Thumb: Convince the audience with the headline!
1.“The worldwide transport of tropical fruits to Germany – a case study on the export of oranges and other citrus fruits”.
2. “The Orange’s exciting journey to our home”
Both headlines focus on the transport of oranges, but the first version sounds a bitt stiff… and far less exciting than number two. Why is that? The audience always wants to be taken on a journey, entertained and amused. Capture the audience with your headline, creating interest in your content and present from the very first second.
Index finger: Tell a story
You found an interesting and exciting headline? Outstanding! Pull this concept through your entire presentation. Take the audience on a journey, tell a story about your presentation. Decorate individual positions with informative and factual aspects and you will notice that the audience was much more attentive at the end of your speech. Pure fact: rain and monotonous enumeration of numbers may be particularly informative, but after some time the listener switches off and is bored. This is not the case with an exciting narrated story – you want to hear every inch of the narrative and you are constantly tied to your words.

Middle finger: No power in supervised reading!
You are the speaker! It is your job to entertain the audience and to make the performance come to life on stage. It is all the more important that your slides support you and emphasize what you have already said. What you do not want: reading the texts that are on your slides aloud. If you only read what you have written, you quickly become boring and replaceable, because the audience can read for themselves. What you can do, however: make the presentation lively and interesting! This can not be a slide set for you to read off of.
Ring finger: The mind needs pictures
They have done it: the audience listens to you and is completely immersed in the subject matter. You can now emphasize your story about the content of your presentation with the targeted use of images. The eye processes images much faster than text and so the listener will be glad to experience a change. However, the images should not be chosen randomly, but emphasize and emphasize what you have stated.

Less is sometimes more: Using pictures is nice and important, but do not overdo it. In the foreground of your presentation Be careful not to make a slideshow of your presentation.
Next time you do not know what to do during a preparation and are thinking about what else you might be able to do, think about your hand and its tricks!
